Spartans Bounce Back with Dominant Win Over Thaddeus Stevens

LANCASTER, Pa. - The 12th ranked Northampton men's basketball team bounced back from their first loss of the season on Thursday night with a dominating 81-49 victory over Thaddeus Stevens College on Saturday afternoon at the Metzler Center. 

The Spartans led 44-26 at halftime and held the Bulldogs to just 17 field goals on the day in racking up the 32 point victory. 

"Good bounce back, good road win," commented Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "I thought our effort today was good, these early Saturday road games are never easy, but the guys were ready to get back on the court and compete after Thursday."

Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) led the Spartans with 20 points, while Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) had 17 and Sebastian Fermin (East Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) added 15. 

Northampton finished 32 of 69 from the field, including 5 of 18 from behind the arc.

Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) hauled down 9 rebounds and Abdul Jackson (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) dished out 8 assists to pace the Spartans. 

Northampton improves to 10-1 overall, 7-1 in Region 19 and 3-0 in the EPAC.

Thaddeus Stevens falls to 1-9 overall, 1-7 in Region 19 and 1-3 in conference play. 

The Spartans have a non-conference matchup on Tuesday as they travel to Binghamton, NY to face Broome Community College.
