BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 2nd seeded Northampton women's basketball team saw their season come to an early end with a 63-52 loss to 3rd seeded Camden County College in the Region 19 semifinals on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans, who played without injured Region 19 Player of the Year
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South), shot just 24% from the floor (17/71), with only
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) reaching double figures, finishing with 22 points. Â
"Obviously missing a player like Kania in the middle changes a number of things," stated Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "she is such a key piece because other teams need to focus on her, which opens things up for our guards and our wings, which did not happen tonight."
Yonique Reynolds (Easton, PA/Wilson) hauled down 16 rebounds, while
Kamauri Gordon-Bey (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) grabbed 12.Â
Shanaiya Ellis (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with 8 points, 6 assists and 8 rebounds in her final game as a Spartan.
Northampton, ranked 13th in the latest NJCAA national poll, finishes the season at 14-7.
Camden, which improves to 16-7, will now play in the Region 19 Championship game on Saturday.Â
