BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 5th ranked Northampton baseball team exploded for 23 runs in a 23-8 victory over Holy Family JV on Monday afternoon at Spartan Park.
The Spartans used 16 hits and 17 walks to overcome the cold and the Tigers, jumping out to a 13-0 lead after 1 inning and never looking back.
Brandon Ratti (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) was 3 for 3 with a double, 3 runs scored and a stolen base, while
Alexander Ruiz (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) finished 2 for 2 with a walk, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. The Spartans had 7 doubles on the day.
Ben Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) got the win, improving to 2-0, working 3.0 innings, allowing no runs on no hits, while fanning 1.
Nate Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) worked the 4th and 5th innings, allowing just 1 hit and no runs, while striking out 4.
Samuel Martinez (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) added 4 RBI with a 2 for 2 performance, including a double.
The win moves Northampton to 15-1 overall.
The Spartans are now off until Friday when they are set to host #1 ranked RCSJ-Gloucester in game one of their best of 3 Region 19 series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm. Games two and three will be at RCSJ-Gloucester on Saturday.
