CRANFORD, NJ - The Northampton men's volleyball picked up their 9th win of the season, downing Union County College 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 at the Owls Nest on Monday evening.
Alex Schoenen (Northampton, PA/Northampton) had a big night, recording 7 kills, 13 digs, 3 solo blocks and 6 block assists to help lead the Spartans to the sweep.
Ramon Romero (San Pedro Sula, Hondurus/Liceo Billingue (HN)) had 8 kills and 17 digs, and
Andrew Montes De Oca (Kearny, NJ/Kearny (NJ)) added 6 kills, 6 digs and 3 solo blocks.
"Good win in a tough environment tonight," remarked Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "we did a good job at the net tonight controlling play. Now the focus turns to Ocean on Wednesday."
The win moves Northampton to 9-1 overall and 9-1 in Region 19.
Union falls to 15-11 overall and 4-4 in the Region.
The Spartans are set to host Ocean County College on Wednesday at 7pm. The Vikings are the only team to defeat the Spartans this year, downing Northampton 3-1 on March 9th in Toms River, NJ.
