Doubleheader Split Earns Northampton Series Win vs. Middlesex

EDISON, NJ -  The 4th ranked Northampton baseball team picked up their 3rd series win of the season, splitting games two and three vs. Middlesex College on Wednesday in Edison, NJ, after winning game one in Bethlehem on Tuesday. 

GAME ONE - Won 3-1
Ellis Snow (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) threw a complete game 6-hitter, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6, to earn his 2nd win of the season (2-0).

Samuel Martinez (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) was 1 for 3 with 2-run single in the 1st inning, while Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) was 1 for 3 with a RBI double in the 6th, which scored John Smale (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) to give teh Spartans a 3-1 lead.

Robert Furino (East Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. East) finished 2 for 4 with a stolen base. 

GAME TWO - Lost 7- 2
Gavin Panovec (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) took the loss (1-1), going 5 innings, allowing 5 runs (2 earned, striking out 6 and walking 4.  Nate Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) worked the 6th inning, allowing 2 runs. 

Robert Furino (East Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. East) and Brody Hinkle (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York) each had a RBI to lead the Spartans. 

The split puts the Spartans at 19-3 overall and 7-2 in the Region.

Middlesex, which received votes in the latest NJCAA poll, moves to 13-10 overall and 4-5 in the Region.

The Spartans are back in action on Friday when they begin a 3-game series with Brookdale Community College.  The Jersey Blues (20-2) are ranked 3rd in the country in the latest NJCAA poll.
