MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Despite having their 9am contest vs. Minnesota North - Itasca rained out, the Northampton baseball responded with a victory in game two of the scheduled doubleheader, downing the Vikings 8-4.
Nate Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) picked up the win, working 6.0 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 5.
Connor Dunkelberger (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia) worked the 7th, allowing 3 runs on 1, fanning 2.
John Smale (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) was 2 for 2 with a homerun and 2 RBI,
Brandon Ratti (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley) went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Luis Beato (Bethlehem, PA/Muhlenberg) had a triple to lead the Spartan offense.
Northampton led 8-1 entering the bottom of the 7th, before allowing 3 Viking runs.
The win moves Northampton to 9-1 overall.
Wednesday's rainout has added a game to Thursday's schedule. The Spartans will face St. Clair at 9am and then take on Minnesota North at 1pm.
