BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton baseball team finished off a 7-0 week with a doubleheader sweep of Luzerne County Community College on Sunday afternoon at Spartan Park.  Veteran mentor Adrian Yaguez picked up career win #400 in game one and now stands at 401-200 during his 16 year tenure in the Spartan dugout. 

GAME ONE - Won 35-0
The #2 Spartans topped Luzerne 35-0 in game, as Austin Beard (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) picked up the win, improving to 7-1 on the season.  Beard and 4 other Spartan pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter in the shutout win. Beard started and threw 2 innings, striking out 2, followed by Nate Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley), who threw 2 innings and fanned 5. Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) pitched a scoreless frame with 2 Ks, Joey Cook (Emmaus, PA/Agora Cyber) then struck out the side in his inning of work and Ellis Snow (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) pitched the final frame, fanning

The Spartans had 29 hits in the win. led by Benjamin Gagnon (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) and Brody Hinkle (Wrightsville, PA/Eastern York), who both finished 4-6. Hinkle scored 4 runs, had 3 doubles and 6 RBI. Gagnon had 3 runs scored, a double and 3 RBI. Noah Gonzalez (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) was 3-5 with a double,.Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) was 3-5 with 3 RBI, Cade Capello (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) went 3-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI and John Smale (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) hit his 4th HR of the season, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 4 RBI.

Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) stole his 29th and 30th bases of the season, tying him with Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) for the Northampton single season stolen base record. 

GAME TWO - Won 35-2
In game two, the Spartans used 6 pitchers, limiting Luzerne to 2 runs on 4 hits, as the Spartans completed the sweep with a convincing 35-2 victory. 

Aaron Clark (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) recorded the victory, going 2.0 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits, striking out 4

Noah Gonzalez (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) had the big day going 6-8 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) was 4-5 with a triple and his team-leading 5th homerun of the season. Luis Beato (Bethlehem, PA/Muhlenberg) was 5-5 with a triple and 5 RBI, Manuel Barroso (Puerto Rico/Beltran Academy (PR)) was 4-5 with 6 runs scored  and 3 RBI. Cody Miller (Oxford, NJ/Warren Hills (NJ)) had a 4-5 performance at the plate and knocked in 5 runs and Joey Cook (Emmaus, PA/Agora Cyber) had 5 hits and 4 RBI. The Spartans totaled 37 hits as a team. 

The doubleheader sweep moves Northampton to 31-4 overall and 19-4 in Region 19. 

Luzerne falls to 0-6 overall and 0-6 in Region 19. 

The Spartans hit the road on Tuesday when they travel across the Lehigh Valley to finish their series vs. Lehigh Carbon.  Game one of the series was rained out on Friday.  The Spartans swept games two and three on Saturday.
