BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 15th ranked Northampton women's volleyball team dropped both ends of their Region 19 tri-match, falling to Montgomery County Community College and Lehigh Carbon Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
MATCH ONE vs. Montgomery - Lost 3-0 (15-25, 18-25, 28-30)
In the opening match of the Spartan's Region 19 tri-match, the Mustangs of Montgomery County dominated action in the first 2 sets and then held off a late charge from Northampton in the 3rd set to earn the 3-0 sweep. Â
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) had 7 kills and 13 digs,
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) recorded 27 assists and
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) was credited with 21 digs.Â
MATCH TWO vs. Lehigh Carbon - Lost 3-2 (16-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 11-15)
In match two, the Spartans once again got off to a very slow start, dropping the first two sets vs. LCCC, before rebounding to take sets 3 and 4, before falling in the deciding 5th set, 15-11.Â
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded 18 kills and 15 digs,
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 9 kills and 19 digs,
Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy)Â notched 43 assists and
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) had 32 digs to lead the Spartans.Â
The loss to Lehigh Carbon was the first for the Spartans since September 10, 2009, ending a 17-game winning streak vs. the Cougars.Â
Northampton falls to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in Region with the two losses.Â
Montgomery, which lost to Lehigh Carbon in their match, is now 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Region.
Lehigh Carbon picks up two wins on the day and improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in Region 19.
The Spartans will look to get back on track on Monday night when they host Delaware County Community College at 6pm.Â
