Spartans Down Harcum and Philadelphia to Sweep Tri-Match

BYRN MAWR, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team picked up two victories on Saturday, downing Harcum College 3-2 and the Community College of Philadelphia 3-0, to sweep the Harcum tri-match at OMG Arena.

Match One vs. Harcum - Won 3-2 (16-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-7)
The Spartans once again started slowly, dropping the first two sets, but then rallied to take 3 straight sets to earn the 3-2 victory.  "I'm really proud of how we fought today," remarked Head Coach Rachael Aquila, "even when were down 2-0, I think the loss to Harcum on September 9th really motivated the girls to continue to fight for each point."

Alyssa Eilenberger (Saylorsburg, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) had 17 kills and 14 digs, Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) recorded 14 kills, Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 10 kills and 7 blocks and Leana Angelone (Coopersburg, PA/Faith Christian Academy) was credited with 42 assists.

Division II Harcum falls to 3-5 with the loss.

Match Two vs. Philadelpia - Won 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-14)
Isabella McDonald (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg - South) recorded 6 kills, Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) had 9 kills and Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) registered a season-high 9 service aces to lead the Spartans.

The 2 wins moves Northampton to 9-4 overall.

Philadelphia falls to 0-3.

The Spartans stay on the road Monday, traveling to Harrisburg to face the Hawks at 6pm.
