Spartans Ride Offense to 100-73 Victory Over Harrisburg

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's basketball team shot 57% from the field, including a 12 for 26 performance from downtown, in a 100-73 victory over Harrisburg Area Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/LIberty) and Sebastian Fermin (East Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mountain East) each had 4 three-pointers and Ethan Ringenberger (Egypt, PA/Whitehall) went 3 for 3 from behind the arc, as the Spartans outscored the Hawks 36 to 12 from distance.

Rivera led five Spartans in double figures with 20, followed by Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) with 16, Fermin 15, and Abdul Jackson (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) and Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) each with 12.

"I thought we got a little undisciplined defensively in the second half," remarked Head Coach Brennan McCarthy, "but we were able to refocus and finish strong down the stretch."

JJ Kolumber (Northampton, PA/Northampton) dished out 8 assists, Jackson had 4 steals and Herran added 5 blocks to pace the Spartans.

Northampton improves to 16-2 overall, 10-2 in Region 19 and 5-1 in the EPAC.  The Spartans now lead the all-time series with Harrisburg 24-2, with 11 straight victories.

Harrisburg falls to 2-15 overall, 1-9 in Region 19 and 1-6 in conference play.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they host the Misericordia College JV team at 6pm.
