SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Northampton Women's Volleyball team wrapped up their regular season with a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) over Raritan Valley Community College on Monday evening at the Lions Sports Center.
The Spartans, who continue to hold the #7 spot in the NJCAA DIII national poll, extended their winning streak to 8 matches.
Sophomore Outside Hitter
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) led the offense with 11 kills, 5 service aces and 11 digs in the regular season finale for the Spartans. Right Side
Zoe Velez (Landville, PA/Warwick) contributed 7 kills, 1 service ace, 4 digs and two blocks and Freshman Middle Hitter
Sophia Tyma (Bethlehem, PA/Lehigh Valley Academy) added 7 kills and 2 blocks. Setter
Samantha Nagy (Easton, PA/Easton) had 28 assists and 8 digs with Libero
Gianna Sciarra (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) collecting 10 digs and 3 service aces.
"This is a big win to wrap up our regular season," explained Spartans Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "This was a hard fought match and it went down to the end in the last two sets and I'm pleased with how we competed. Proud of our team and the way we finished the regular season strong but now it is time to get focused on the playoffs."
The Spartans finish the regular season with a 26-1 record overall and 13-0 in Region 19.
Raritan Valley finishes the regular season at 12-15 overall and 9-4 in the Region.
The Spartans will now wait for the Region 19 Volleyball Committee to release the playoff seeding on Wednesday for the upcoming Region 19 championship tournament.
