SCHNECKSVILLE, PA - The 15th ranked Northampton men's basketball team improved to 21-4 on the season with a convincing 95-74 victory over Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday evening at the Cougar Dome.
Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) led the Spartans with 23 points, eclipsing the 1000 point mark for his career, while
Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) had 19, followed by
Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) with 17 and
Abdul Jackson (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) 11.
JJ Kolumber (Northampton, PA/Northampton) dished out 15 assists, tying the Northampton single game record held by Perry Nardella, who did it twice back in 1985.
"Always tough to get a win here at the Cougar Dome," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "LCCC plays extremely hard and it is a challenging environment to come into as an opposing team ... I am proud of the guys, proud of the effort."
Northampton is now 13-4 in Region 19 and 5-1 in the EPAC.
Lehigh Carbon falls to 7-17 overall, 6-12 in the Region and 2-6 in conference play.
The Spartans continue their road-trip on Thursday as they head to Randolph, NJ to take on NJCAA Division II County College of Morris at Jack Martin Arena.
