BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a sweep of the Community College of Philadelphia on Monday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center, downing the Lions 25-10, 25-8, 25-8.

Luke Smith (Breiningsville, PA/Parkland) led the Spartans with 11 kills, 2 service aces, 2 digs and 2 blocks, while Fred Patton (Trexlertown, PA/Parkland) added 6 kills, 4 service aces and 9 digs.  The Spartans recorded 16 service aces as a team. 

"Exciting to see a new team joining our league," remarked Head Coach Rachael Caywood, "adding Philadelphia will only help the NJCAA as we continue to grow the sport of men's volleyball."

Zach Franges (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) finished with 25 assists and 4 digs. 

The Community College of Philadelphia, playing their inaugural match, falls to 0-1.

The Spartans continue their homestand on Wednesday when they host Atlantic Cape Community College at 6pm.
