PATERSON, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team closed out the regular season with 58-47 victory over Passaic County Community College on Tuesday evening at the Panther Athletic Center.
The Spartans placed 3 players in double figures as the outscored the Panthers in 3 of the 4 quarters.
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with 21 points,
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) had 14 and
Heaven Dubois (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Northampton.
"Good road win for us tonight heading into the postseason," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "definitely a challenging environment, their fans are very enthusiastic, I thought the girls did a nice job sticking together and staying focused."
Raquel Costache (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) hauled down a game-high 19 rebounds to go along with her 4 points and 3 steals.
The win moves Northampton to 16-9 overall and 13-7 in Region 19.
Passaic falls to 11-15 overall and 8-12 in Region play.
The Spartans will now await seeding for the Region 19 tournament, which is scheduled to open on Tuesday February 25th. The most likely scenario has the Spartans earning the #5 seed and traveling to #4 Brookdale. An official announcement on postseason matchups will be made on Wednesday evening.
