BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 4th seeded Northampton men's basketball team advanced to the Region 19 Championship game with an 83-66 victory over #5 Camden County College on Wednesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans, who led by as many as 21 in the 2nd half, shot 45% for the game, while holding the Cougars to just 36%. Northampton also dominated the backboards, 51 to 32, including 15 offensive rebounds.
Abdul Jackson (Pottstown, PA/Pottstown) led Northampton with 25 points and 9 rebounds,
Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/LIberty) had 18 points and
Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) chipped in with 15 points. 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
"Really good effort tonight," remarked Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "I thought our intensity was at a very high level and we were able to sustain it for 40 minutes."
Josh Washington (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) added 9 points and 10 rebounds for Northampton, which improved to 23-5 with the win.
Camden finishes the year at 17-11.
The Spartans will now face top-seeded Union County College in the North Atlantic District A Championship game on Saturday at 12pm. The winner gets an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in Herkimer, NY, March 12th thru the 15th.
