SEWELL, NJ - The Northampton men's basketball team used a strong second half effort to pull away from RCSJ-Gloucester and earn an 80-68 victory at the RAC on Tuesday night.
Trailing 38-35 at intermission, the Spartans outscored the Roadrunners 45-30 over the final 20 minutes to secure the crucial Region 19 victory.
Nasir Ruhani (Brooklyn, NY/Eagle Academy (NY)) tallied 21 points, while
Nate Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/LIberty) and
Ameer Herran (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) each finished with 16.
"Another solid road win in the Region," commented Head Coach
Brennan McCarthy, "our second half defensive intensity led to some fast break opportunities and allowed us to take control of the contest."
Northampton improves to 18-4 overall and 11-4 in Region 19 with the win.
RCSJ-Gloucester falls to 10-14 overall and 8-8 in Region play.
The Spartans return to the friendly confines of the Spartan Center on Thursday when they host nationally-ranked Montgomery County Community College at 7pm, in a non-conference game.
