PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The Northampton Baseball team, ranked 5th in the NJCAA national poll, opened the 2025 campaign with a split on Saturday vs. Montgomery County Community College, winning game one 10-0, before dropping game two, 3-2.
GAME ONE - Won 10-0
Nathan Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) picked up the win in game one, allowing just 1 hit over 5 innings of work, while striking out 5.
Jared Diefenbach (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) threw 2 scoreless innings of relief, striking out 4.
Jack Smale (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) was 1 for 2 with a HR and 2 RBI,
Lincoln Hower (Kintnersville, PA/Faith Christian) went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and
Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) finished 1 for 4 with a double.
The Spartans had 6 hits and drew 11 walks in the victory.
GAME TWO - Lost 3-2
In game two the Spartans led 2-0 entering the bottom of the 5th, but the Mustangs rallied and plated 3 runs and then held Northampton scoreless in the 6th and 7th innings to secure the victory.
Mason Sgarlat (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) suffered the loss in relief, allowing 1 run in 0.2 inning of work.
Cooper Natisin (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) had a no-decision, working 4.1 innings, scattering 4 hits and striking out 6.
Ellis Snow (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin) pitched a scoreless 6th in relief.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was 1 for 2 with a double and
Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was with 1 for 3 with a RBI, as the Spartan offense could only muster 4 hits.
The split puts Northampton at 1-1 overall, 1-1 in Region 19 and 1-1 in the EPAC.
Montgomery is 1-1 overall, 1-1 in the Region and 1-1 in Conference play.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday March 4th when they host the Mustangs in game three of the 3-game Region series.
