MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The 9th ranked Northampton baseball team earned a split on Tuesday at the Ripken Complex, falling to Division II Clark State 11-5 in game one and then downing DII St. Clair Community College, 13-1 in game two.
GAME ONE vs. CLARK STATE (Lost 11-5)
Cooper Natisin (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) took the loss on the mound in game one for the Spartans, allowing 8 runs on 9 hits in 3 innings of work.
Aaron Clark (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) came on in relief and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings of work, and
John Pushkar (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) pitched a scoreless 7th for Northampton.
The Spartan offense, which only managed 5 hits on the day, were led by
Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) who finished 2 for 3 with a run scored.
GAME TWO vs. ST. CLAIR (Won 13-1)
The Spartans rebounded in game two, downing Division II St. Clair 13-1, behind a 15 hit attack.
Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) hit for the cycle, finishing 4 for 4, with 3 RBI, while
Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases.
Nate Mostosky (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) earned the win on the mound, going 3 innings allowing no runs and no hits with 4 K's.
Eric Rivera (Blakeslee, PA/Pocono Mt. - West) followed with 2 strong innings of relief, allowing 2 hits while fanning 3.
Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)) was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI,
Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) had 2 doubles and
Lincoln Hower (Kintnersville, PA/Faith Christian) went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
The split puts Northampton at 6-3 overall.
The Spartans are back on the diamond on Wednesday when they face St. Clair at 3:30pm and Mid-Michigan College at 6:30pm.
