Spartans Drop Two on Day Five of Spring Trip

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The 9th ranked Northampton Baseball team dropped both of their games on Wednesday at the Ripken Complex, falling to Division II programs; St. Clair Community College, 14-13, and Mid-Michigan College, 7-5.

GAME ONE - ST. CLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE (Lost 14-13)
After downing the Skippers 13-1 on Tuesday, the Spartans fell to St. Clair, 14-13, on Wednesday.  Joey Cook (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) took the loss in relief, surrendering 3 runs on 1 hit. 

Jack Smale (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) finished 2 for 5 with a grand slam and 5 RBI.  The homerun was Smale's 3rd of the year. 

Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI and Jorge Maldonado (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico/Beltran Academy (PR)) went 2 for 3 with a RBI.

GAME TWO - MID-MICHIGAN COLLEGE (Lost 7-5)
Mason Sgarlat (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) took the loss vs. Mid-Michigan College, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings of work, with 6 K's. 

Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a RBI, while Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) finished 1 for 3 with a triple and a RBI.

The two losses drops Northampton to 6-5 overall. 

The Spartans will look to leave Myrtle Beach on a high note, as they face-off for two games vs. DII Henry Ford College on Thursday at 9:00am and 12:30pm.
