MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The 9th ranked Northampton baseball team finished their 10 game spring trip with a 5-5 record, after splitting their final two games of the week vs. Henry Ford Community College on Thursday at the Ripken Complex.
GAME ONE vs. HENRY FORD CC (Lost 12-1)
The Spartans struggled in game one Thursday, falling to Division II Henry Ford Community College, 12-1.
Ellis Snow (Harrisburg, PA/Lower Dauphin) took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs on 8 hits in 1 inning of work.
John Pushkar (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, and
Manuel Barroso (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/Beltran Academy (PR)) finished out the game, allowing no run in 2/3 of an inning.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) finished 1 for 1 with a double and
Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)) added a hit and a RBI.
GAME TWO vs. HENRY FORD CC (Won 14-6)
Northampton rebounded in game two, downing the Hawks 14-6, behind starting pitcher
Jared Diefenbach (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)). Diefenbach went 5 innings, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 3.
JJ Cruz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) threw the final 2 innings, allowing no runs on no hits.
Aiden Pearson (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 5 RBI,
Braden Cummings (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) went 3 for 4,
Kyle Stoner (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township (NJ)) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) finished 2 for 2 with a double and 3 runs scored.
Cade Capello (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) added 3 RBI for the Spartans.
The Spartans return to Bethlehem with an overall record of 7-6 after their 5-5 performance in South Carolina.
Northampton will jump into conference play this weekend as they get set to host 3rd ranked, and undefeated, Brookdale Community College on Sunday at noon in a doubleheader.
