Men's Volleyball Earns #7 Seed for NJCAA Invitational

3/30/2025 3:03:00 PM

Charlotte, NC: The 2025 Men's Volleyball Invitational Bracket has been announced. The Invitational will be held in Canandaigua, NY, and hosted by Finger Lakes Community College (NY). This will be a new site for the Invitational, after the College of DuPage (IL) hosted it the previous two years. Action will take place from April 4-6, 2025.

Ten teams will participate in the upcoming double-elimination tournament. This is a new format for the tournament after being pool play for the previous two years.

DuPage was named the top overall seed after a 2025 season record of 20-2. Their two losses came against non-NJCAA opponents. Braeden Zant and Adam Janowiak lead the Chaps attack with over 140+ kills on the season. DuPage finished the 2024 Invitational in third place after defeating regional foe Bryant & Stratton (WI) in five sets.

The Lions of Nassau (NY) come in as the No. 2 seed. Nassau enters the field with a 19-2 record and 10 wins over teams within this field. The Lions feature one of the top hitters in the country, Suhaib Amar. Amar leads the nation in kills at 290 on the year, totaling 4.08 per set.

The No. 3 seed is Monroe University (NY), the two-time defending invitational runner-ups and hold a record of 14-6. Four of the Mustangs' losses this season came to the two teams seeded ahead of them, but Monroe has a team with strong play on offense and defense. Santiago Valenca is fourth in the nation in kills per set with 3.38. The Mustangs will see if they can get over the hump and claim their first invitational title.

Finger Lakes, the two-time defending invitational champions and host, is the No. 4 seed. This year's squad holds an 11-7 record, led by Evan Lukasiewicz, who has 253 kills this season. Tha Lakers look to use the home court advantage and win their third straight invitational title.

Bryant & Stratton (WI) is our No. 5 seed with an 8-13 record. The Wildcats finished fourth place in last year's Invitational and are looking to give another impressive performance this season. They have wins over Union, Monroe-Bronx, and Monroe University this season.

Union (NJ) is the No. 6 seed. The Owls have a 20-6 record this season and lead the nation in service aces. Setter Daniel Silva has put together an incredible season, averaging the second most assists per set in the country at 9.07.

Our No. 7 seed is Northampton (PA), which finished 2nd in the Region 19 tournament and currently holds a 14-4 record. They defeated Ocean County (NJ) to reach the region championship game. The Spartans led the country in kills per set and digs per set. Libero Matthew Gonzalez (Coopersburg, PA/Liberty) has been critical on the Northampton defense and averages a nation-leading 4.35 digs per set.

The Monroe Bronx Express (NY) is our No. 8 seed with a 10-17 record. The Express have averaged 8.10 kills per set and 9.82 digs per set. Darren Lopez is fourth in the nation in kills with 231 this season.

Passaic County (NJ) from Region 19 will be seeded at No. 9 overall. The Panthers hit 8.93 kills per set at a .237 hitting percentage. Briseas Ransom has been one of the outside hitters in the country, ranking in the top 5 in kills and kills per set.

The final team in the field is Middlesex (NJ). The Blue Colts hold a 9-15 record and have been a strong defensive team. They have more digs than any other team in the country, averaging 14.03 per set. Briseas Ransom leads the nation in total digs and is third in digs per set.
