BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's Volleyball team remained undefeated, downing NJCAA DII Delaware Tech Community College, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans dropped the opening set 23-25, then rebounded by taking the next three sets 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 to clinch the win.
Sophomore
Lexi Womack (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) led the offense for the Spartans with 11 kills, 18 digs and 4 service aces and
Zoe Velez (Landville, PA/Warwick) added 8 kills and 5 blocks.
Kyra Miller (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) also got into the mix with 7 kills and 4 digs. Setter
Samantha Nagy (Easton, PA/Easton) registered 30 assists and 2 service aces along with 3 digs and 2 kills while
Gianna Sciarra (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) collected 22 digs, 4 assists along with 5 service aces for the Spartans.
"Tough match right from the start," explained Head Coach
Rachael Aquila, "It was a back and forth opening first set and we fell just short, but we were able to battle back and earn a hard fought victory over a very good opponent."
The Spartans, who sit at #8 in the NJCAA national poll, improve to 11-0 overall with the win.
Delaware Tech slips to 5-2 with the loss.
The Spartans are back in action on Monday, September 22nd when they host the Owls of Union College at the Arthur L. Scott Center at 6pm.
