Men's Soccer Downs Morris in Thriller

RANDOLPH, NJ - The Northampton men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season with a thrilling, 6-5, comeback victory over the County College of Morris on Saturday afternoon at the Titan Soccer Complex.

After falling behind 4-1 in the first half, the Spartans played an inspired second half, cutting the deficit to 4-3 following goals from Mohamed Hassanali (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) at the 62 minute mark and Santiago Rivas (Pereira, Columbia/Liceo Euroamericano), just 2 minutes later.

Morris then responded with a goal from Christian Rosado at the 66 minute mark, to increase their lead to 5-3.

Dominik Roszkowski (Easton, PA/Freedom) then took over the game, scoring 3 consecutive goals, with the final one coming at the 83 minute mark to give the Spartans a 6-5 lead, which they would protect over the final 7 minutes for the victory.

Roszkowski netted his 1st goal at the 68 minute mark, assisted by Hassanali, then tallied his 2nd goal 4 minutes later off a pass from Rivas, before finding the net on the game winner, off an assist from Diego Arce (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl).

"What a game," remarked Head Coach Mario Barrantes, "the boys never gave up, I'm so proud of the fight they showed today.  Obviously it has been a tough season, and then to go down 4-1 on the road, it would have been easy to pack it in, but they didn't ... they kept fighting and played a full 90 minutes and got the win."

Northampton improves to 1-7-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the Region.

Morris falls to 1-8-1 overall and 1-8-1 in Region play. .

The Spartans continue their road trip on Tuesday when they head to Mays Landing, NJ to face Atlantic Cape Community College at 4pm.
