BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Women's Basketball team zipped past the visiting Cougars of Camden County College, 58-43, picking up their third straight win on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans jumped out to 14-8 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 29-18 at the end of the first half. The Spartans kept their momentum out of the locker room and controlled the tempo through the second half to seal the Region 19 win.
"Another balanced effort tonight," explained Spartans Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "We again took control early and that set the tone for us the rest of the game. We stayed focused and played our game and executed the way we can. I feel we are starting to get things going at the right time and we just need to keep working hard for everything."
The Spartans were led by a balanced offensive attack with both
Neoshe Perez (Bath, PA/Executive Charter) and
Nia Brown (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) recording a double-double. Perez scored 10 points with 14 rebounds for her third straight double-double and Brown scored 17 points and grabbed 15 boards for her seventh double-double on the season. Sophomore
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored a game-high 20 points and
Abymarie Colon (Easton, PA/Wilson) chipped in with 6 points and a pair of steals.
Joey-Madison Shaul (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall)Â had 9 rebounds and
Zeriah Hinson (Sharon Hill, PA/Academy Park) added 3 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.
Northampton improves to 11-4 overall and 7-3 in Region 19.
Camden falls to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Region.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday, January 17th when they travel to Somerville, NJ to take on Division II Raritan Valley Community College at 1pm at the Physical Education Builiding (RVCC).
