Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Falls at Atlantic Cape, 3-1

MAYS LANDING, NJ - The Northampton men's volleyball team fell to 5th ranked Atlantic Cape Community College, 3-1, (25-21, 16-25, 25-27, 17-25) on Monday night in Region 19 action at the Buccaneers Athletic Center.

The Spartans jumped out to quick start, taking the first set, 25-21, but lost the momentum and fell in the next three sets for the hard luck loss.

"I felt we came out strong and had some momentum after the first set," explained Spartans Head Coach Rachael Aquila, "But, give Atlantic Cape credit. They bounced right back and we just didn't have an answer. We battled each set but we just came up short tonight."

Luke Smith (Breiningsville, PA/Parkland), who was named the EPAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week earlier in the day, led the Spartans with 11 kills, 16 digs and 7 blocks. Fred Patton (Trexlertown, PA/Parkland) had 10 kills and 9 digs and Calvin Long (Allentown, PA/William Allen) added 8 kills, 2 assists and 11 digs. Lucas Johnson (Glendale, AZ/Independence (AZ)) recorded 25 assists and 6 digs in the loss.

Northampton falls to 2-7 overall and 2-7 in Region 19.

Atlantic Cape improves to 11-3 overall and 9-2 in the Region.

The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday when they host Passaic County Community College at 6pm at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
