EDISION, NJ - Northampton sophomore
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) has been named the Region 19 Player of the Year, in a vote conducted by the league coaches.
Sweatte finished 3rd in the country in scoring at 23.7ppg, while adding 7.1rpg, 3.6apg and 1.9spg. The Spartans finished 18-9 overall, falling to Brookdale in the Region 19 playoffs.
Sweatte, a returning All-American, became Northampton's all-time leading scorer this season, finishing her career with 1,193 points, surpassing the previous record of 1,125 held by Dom Moser (2016-18).
The Region 19 Player of the Year Honor is the 26th for the Northampton athletic program since 2012.
