#15 Spartans Take Down Delaware County, 26-5

MEDIA, PA - The nationally ranked Northampton baseball team exploded for 26 runs and 22 hits on Monday afternoon to take down Delaware County Community College, 26-5, and sweep the three game Region 19 series over the Phantoms.

The Spartans, ranked 15th in the NJCAA national poll released earlier in the day, scored 19 runs in the top of the 4th inning to put the game out of reach over the Phantoms. The Spartans are on a 6 game winning streak.

"Good win today and nice to see us keeping the bats alive and get the series sweep," stated Spartans Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "Give Delaware County credit. They gave us fits but I was pleased with how our guys responded. Things were tight at times in all three games but we got it going when we needed to and we were able to get everyone involved. That was the goal for us."

Matthew Tankred (East Greenville, PA/Southern Lehigh) continued to swing the hot bat for the Spartans, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI, to lead the 22 hit explosion. John Pushkar (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) was 3-4 with 2 RBI and Zack Schaedel (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was 2-3 with two doubles and 3 RBI. Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was 1-2 with a double and Max Landis (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was 1-2 with a triple as the Spartans had 7 extra-base hits in the win.

Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), Tyler Reichenbach (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and Aiden Pearson (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) all contributed to the offensive output with two hits apiece.

Ben Warner (Alexandria, VA/Alexandria City (VA)) (1-3) picked up his first win of the season, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out 6. Isaiah Sack (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) threw 2 innings in relief and Ryder Hertzler (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot) closed out the game with a scoreless 7th inning, allowing 1 hit and recording a strikeout.

Northampton improves to 14-7 overall and 8-2 in Region 19.

Delaware County falls to 0-11 overall and 0-11 in the Region.

The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday at 3:30pm at Spartan Park when they host #1 RCSJ-Gloucester in game one of a two game mid-week Region 19 series.
