MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Northampton Baseball team went 1-1 on Day One of their Spring Trip at the Ripken Experience, topping NJCAA DII Lakeland Community College, 22-7, and falling to Rochester Community and Technical College, 3-0.
GAME ONE vs LAKELAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE (Won 22-7)
Kyle Stoner (Burlington Township (NJ)/Burlington Township (NJ)) was 3-4 with a double and 4 RBI to lead a 21-hit attack for Northampton.
Josh Brancy (Sparta. NJ/Sparta (NJ)) was 3-5 with a triple and 4 runs scored with 5 RBI and
Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) was 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI.
Lukas Cokely (Montrose, PA/Montrose) was 2-4 with a home run, his second of the season, along with a triple and 3 RBI.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was 2-5 with 4 runs scored including a double and a stolen base and knocking in 2 runs.
Kamron Kensicki (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was 2-2 with 2 runs scored and
John Pushkar (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) was 2-3.
Carver Perrone (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) (1-0) picked up the win on the mound in relief, scattering 6 hits with 7 strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work for his first win of the season.
GAME TWO vs ROCHESTER COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE (Lost 3-0)
In game two,
Juan Cruz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) (0-1) took tough luck the loss on the mound, allowing only two hits in 5 innings of work with 6 strikeouts. The Spartans offense was limited to only 6 hits and left 7 runners on base.
Danny Qualteria (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) and
Shane Henrick (Blue Bell, PA/Wissahickon) both went 1-3 with a double in the loss.
Northampton is now 2-1 overall.
The Spartans are back on the field on Sunday as they are scheduled to face Finger Lakes Community College at 9am and Terra State at 12pm.
