Cumberland Dashes Spartans Playoff Hopes

NCC falls game short of Regionals

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Spartan baseball team knew the scenario on Monday afternoon... win two vs Cumberland County College and they would be in the playoffs ... lose ... and the season would be over.

Northampton took game one 4-2 behind the complete game effort of Brian Del Rosso who struck out 6 and walked none to earn the victory.  Del Rosso finished 2-for-4 at the plate and added two stolen bases.  Greg Kolaronda added a triple and scored a run, while #Ryan Correll was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

The Spartans stumbled out of the gate in game two and could never catch up, falling to the Dukes 8-5, ending their playoff dreams, and the season.

Kevin Steiner was 2-for-2 and Rich Pohl was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and a stolen base to lead the Northampton attack.

The Spartans, in their first season as a member of the NJCAA, finish the season 8-12 overall and 7-9 in Region XIX.
