SOMERVILLE, NJ -
Kyle Coover's goal, with 29 minutes remaining in the game, proved to be the game winner as the NCC men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to seven games with a 3-1 victory over Raritan Valley Community College on Saturday.
Coover took a through ball from Dave Lapinski and found the back of the net, giving the Spartans a 2-1 lead. 30 seconds later,
Seth Dempsey took a pass from Steve Underwood and scored an insurance goal, providing the final 3-1 margin.
Underwood opened the scoring for Northampton with a blast from 17 yards out in the first half, while Raritan eventually tied the contest with a goal 4 minutes into the second half.
"This is very good road win for us, Raritan has been playing some real good soccer, so I am thrilled to come in here and get a positive result," remarked Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "I thought our defense really stepped up again today, and our passing game was very good, especially given the high winds ... I thought we did a good job keeping the ball on the ground."
The Spartans, now 7-5-2 overall (6-5-2 Region XIX), host nationally-ranked Brookdale Community College on October 18th at 3:30pm.
