LINCROFT, NJ - The NCC baseball team put itself in an early hole in both games at nationally-ranked Brookdale Community College on Sunday, eventually dropping both of ends of a doubleheader in Region XIX action.
In game one, the Jersey Blues jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back, as Brian Conrad improved to 3-1 with a complete game three-hitter, striking out eight.
Greg Kolaronda broke up Conrad's no-hitter with a double leading off the 5th inning.
Billy Turner and
Justin Scerbo each singled for the Spartans.
Jason Pennypacker (2-2) took the loss for NCC, allowing 12 hits, striking out three and walking three.
In game two Brookdale once again jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning, led by Charlie Rivera's two-run homerun.
Nick Zegarski singled to lead off the 5th inning for NCC's first hit of game two.
MIke Ciavarella slips to 2-3 with the loss.
NCC falls to 12-14 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Brookdale improves to 24-6 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
The Spartans host Salem Community College on April 13th at 3:00pm.
