Missed Opportunities Cost Spartans

PARAMUS, NJ - A day of missed opportunties led to a split for the NCC Spartan baseball team in their Region XIX doubleheader at Bergen County College.

In game one the Bulldogs jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Spartans ralled to cut the lead to 8-6 heading into the the top of the seventh inning.  NCC was able to load the bases with no outs, but could not get the tying run across the plate.

"It's frustrating," remarked Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "we worked so hard to get back into the game and then we couldn't cash in on a golden opportunity in the seventh."

Coach Yaguez and the Spartans responded in game two, earning an 11-8 victory.  "I am pleased with our effort and our heart," added Yaguez, "but I am not pleased with our performance today ... these guys need to learn to be focused...I thought we came out flat and you just can't do that in this Region, there are too many good baseball teams."

The Spartans, now 12-10 overall and 4-2 in Region play, are off until Saturday April 10th when they host Middlesex County College in a doubleheader starting at noon.
