Amonte Earns Shutout as Spartans Tie Cumberland

Spartans Tie Cumberland 0-0
VINELAND, NJ - The NCC men's soccer team improved to 0-1-1 with a 0-0 tie at Cumberland County College on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman goalkeeper Melvin Amonte earned his first collegiate shutout, stopping six shots.

The Spartans, who were coming a tough 2-1 loss at home to Bergen Communty College on Tuesday, earned a valuable point in the standings with the tie.

"We are continuing to evolve," remarked Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "there are some changes we need to make, but we are moving in the right direction."

The Spartans now have a week off to prepare for nationally-ranked County College of Morris.  The Titans will travel to Bethlehem on September 9th for a 4:00pm contest.
