MAYS LANDING, NJ - Sophomore Seth Dempsey scored 3 goals to lead the NCC men's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Atlantic Cape Community College on Saturday, giving the Spartans their third consecutive victory.
Dempsey tallied his first goal only 1:30 into the game off an assist from Steve Underwood. Josh Hoff gave NCC a 2-0 lead when he found the back of the net with an assist from Kyle Coover. Dempsey put the Spartans up 3-0 at the half when he notched his 2nd goal with an assist from Luis Galvez (1 goal / 2 assists).
Dempsey completed the hat trick in the second half when he followed up a misplayed ball by the Buccaneer keeper.
Galvez, Hoff, and Jon Catucci rounded out the scoring in the second half to provide the final 7-0 margin.
Pat Szarzynski earned his 2nd shutout in the last three games, making 4 saves.
"Great team effort in tough conditions," remarked a relieved Ned Yelovich, "we were down a couple of kids today and with the extreme heat, it forced us to change some things, but the guys really responded."
The win improves NCC to 4-5-1 overall and 4-5-1 in Region XIX, putting them right back in the playoff hunt.
NCC travels to Camden County College on September 28th.
