Soccer Falls, 3-1, to Raritan Valley

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Raritan Valley Community College scored two first half goals and added an insurance goal in the second half to earn a 3-1 victory over Northampton on Saturday afternoon in Region XIX soccer action.

RVCC opened the scoring 6 minutes into the game, but the Spartans were able to tie the game on a Ryan Sakowski goal.

Raritan retook the lead shortly before halftime and then put the game away early in the second half with their third goal of the contest.

"There is not much I can say at this point," remarked NCC Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "we are trying to remain upbeat and optimistic, but this season has obviously been a drain on everyone involved with NCC Soccer ... I'm not sure anyone would have predicted how this season has turned out.  However, I have to continue to give the kids credit ... they are practicing hard and coming to the field ready to compete."

The loss drops NCC to 2-12-1 overall and 2-11-1 in Region XIX.

Raritan Valley improves to 7-5-2 overal.

NCC returns to action on Sunday in a make-up game at Bergen Community College, which is set to start at 1pm.
