BLUE BELL, Pa. - The 7th ranked NCC baseball team improved to 4-0 in Region XIX with a doubleheader sweep of Montgomery County Community College on Saturday.
In game one, MontCo held a 4-1 lead heading into the top of the 5th, before NCC exploded for 6 runs behind a bases loaded double from
Mike Tenaglia and a 2 RBI single from
Tony Gotshall to take a 7-4 lead. The Mustangs responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 7-6.
Tenaglia (3 for 4, 3 RBI) added an RBI single in the top of the 6th, scoring
Joey Bamford (3 for 4, 2 runs scored) to give NCC an 8-6 lead.
MontCo added a run in the bottom of the 6th to cut the margin to 8-7, but
Aaron Barry recorded his 3rd save of the season, throwing a scoreless bottom of the 7th.
Anthony Casciano (3-0) picked up the win on the mound after relieving starter
Demetri Christofes who left after 4 innings.
Eric Bohem added 2 hits for NCC.
In game two, NCC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and then used a 6-run sixth inning to earn a 10-4 victory.
A
Christian Joest single and 4 RBI from
Mike Tenaglia and
Kyle Dauscher highlighted the 6th inning explosion.
Joest finished 2 for 2, Tenaglia 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, Dauscher 2 for 4, and
Billy Turner 2 for 4 with a RBI as NCC had 18 hits in the nightcap.
Talas Mahon (2-0) got the win on the mound, allowing 3 hits, striking out 4 and walking 1 in 5 innings of action.
NCC, now 13-3 overall, hosts Atlantic Cape Community College on Sunday.
MontCo falls to 8-16 overall and 2-7 in Region XIX.
