BINGHAMTON, NY - The NCC men's soccer team dropped their season opener on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Broome Community College in double overtime.
The Spartans got on the board first after a scoreless first half as
Jose Ortiz found the back of the net off a short cross from
Eric Jimenez at 19:54 to make it 1-0.
The Hornets tied the game at 1-1 on a breakaway with 7:30 remaining in the contest.
The teams fought through a scoreless first overtime before Broome scored the game winner 1:45 into the second extra stanza.
"Overall it was a good game," remarked Head Coach Ned Yelovich, "I think we learned a few things today ... both good and bad ... that will help us prepare for our conference opener."

Jeremie Martinez had 3 saves for the Spartans, who fall to 0-1-0 on the season.
The Spartans open Region XIX play on September 1st when they host Cumberland County College.
