NEWTOWN, Pa. - The Northampton pitching staff threw back-to-back shutouts on Tuesday afternoon as the Spartans swept Bucks County Community College; 8-0, 17-0, in a Region XIX doubleheader.
In game one
Preston Koehler hit a bases loaded triple in the bottom of the first inning and that is all starter
Greg Taylor (1-1) would need as he limited the Centurians to 5 hits and 0 runs while striking out 9 in five innings of work.
The Spartans added 4 runs in the 5th inning on a 2-run double from
Greg Garcia (2 for 3, 3 RBI) and a RBI triple from
Luke Szoke to make the score 8-0.
Jon DeJesus was 2 for 4 with a run scored.
In game two, NCC erupted for 12 runs in the first two innings to support starter
Richie Eilenberger (2-0) who threw a complete game 3-hitter.
DeJesus was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and a RBI,
Brandon Shuck was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI,
Mike Tenaglia 2 for 4,
Elliott Freeman 3 for 4,
Preston Koehler 2 for 3 and
Madison Kimball 2 for 4 with 2 RBI to lead a 19 hit onslaught for NCC.
Northampton improves to 17-13 overall and 12-4 in Region XIX.
Bucks falls to 3-18 overall and 3-17 in Region XIX.
NCC returns to acton on April 21st when they host Atlantic Cape Community College at 1pm.
