Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to Ocean County

TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Northampton men's soccer team, coming off a double overtime tie vs. Bucks County Community College, dropped a non-conference matchup to Ocean County College on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the Vikings.

Ocean, which dominated play for most of the contest, got on the board at the 18:27 mark of the first half with a 30 yard blast which beat Ronnie Mendizabal to give the Vikings a 1-0 advantage.

Ocean added two more first half goals to take a comfortable 3-0 lead into the locker room at intermission.

The Vikings added an insurance goal in the second half to make the final, 4-0.

"Ocean totally outplayed us today," commented Head Coach Joe Heitczman, "we were really on our heels trying to defend and never countered with much of an offensive attack.  Ocean is very aggressive and very skilled and they forced us into numerous mistakes ... we need to regroup and come out ready to play on Tuesday vs. Manor."

Mendizabal finished with 11 saves, as Ocean outshot Northampton 15 to 1.

The loss drops NCC to 1-3-3 overall and 1-0-3 in Region XIX / EPAC.

Ocean improves to 3-1-0 overall.

NCC returns to action on Tuesday when they host undefeated Manor College (5-0 / 3-0) at 3:30pm.
