BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Brookdale Community College, ranked 5th in the latest NJCAA poll, scored what proved to be the game winner mid-way through the first half and then held on for a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon over Northampton.
"I'm very proud of how the guys played today," commented Head Coach Joe Heitczman, "I obviously do not want them to be satisfied with a loss, but given where we are in the development of our program, this was a step in the right direction."
Goalkeeper
Ronnie Mendizabal had 10 saves for NCC, while Brad Bennett turned away 2 shots for the Jersey Blues.
"I thought the defense really stepped up today," remarked Heitczman, "
Zach Wasilick,
Sean Scerbo and
Todd Lerch really lead a strong defensive effort."
Northampton falls to 2-7-3 overall and 2-2-3 in Region XIX.
