ROCHESTER, Mn. - Central Lakes College, the #2 seed, downed the 7th seeded Northampton women's volleyball team, 3-0, in the opening round of the NJCAA National Tournament on Friday morning.
Central Lakes (28-2), ranked 2nd in the latest NJCAA poll, ended Northampton's 33 game unbeaten streak, dowing the Spartans 25-15, 25-21, 25-22.
Conference Player of the Year
Anna Domyan (Bethlehem Catholic) had 9 kills and 10 digs, while Region XIX Player of the Year
Emily Koehler (Northampton) recorded 7 kills and a team-high 17 digs to lead NCC.
"Always tough when your first loss of the season is in the national tournament," echoed Head Coach
Adrian Yaguez, "but I told the girls, we still have a chance to do some great things here and that starts at 2pm in our next match."
Northampton will be back in action this afternoon at 2pm central time, when they take on #6 Montgomery College (MD), who lost to #3 Ridgewater College.
