BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coach Yaguez and the Spartan Baseball team are finalizing travel plans as they prepare to depart for the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday morning.
The Spartans (1-1), will play seven games at the Ripken complex over a 4-day period as they prepare for the upcoming Region XIX schedule when they return North.
"As always, we will see some very good competition," remarked Yaguez, "and obviously it is great for the kids to get outside and play. Given the winter we have had, it gets tough to keep the guys motivated when you are fielding ground balls in the gym."
Northampton will open on Sunday March 10th vs. Westomoreland County Community College at 10am.
The Spartans are currently 1-1 on the season after splitting a doubleheader last weekend at Division I Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland.
"I think we learned a few things about ourselves last Saturday,'" quipped Yaguez, "we learned we can compete with anyone ... but we also learned that we need to compete for every out every inning."
Northampton will host Broome Community College (NY) in a doubleheader on March 17th when they return from their Spring Trip.
