BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Northampton clinched the 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship with a 9-1 victory over visiting Luzerne County Community College on Thursday afternoon. The win moves the Spartans to 8-0 in conference play with just two games remaining, guaranteeing NCC of their second consecutive conference crown.
Matt Roberts (3-1) went 6.1 innings to earn the win, allowing 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 6.
Kyle Farnholtz came on in relief for the final 2.2 innings, allowing 1 hit.
Jake Chamberlain was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI,
Tyler Duplaga was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Carlos Urena went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI to lead Northampton.

Luzerne falls to 4-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Spartans are now off until April 23rd when they travel to Lehigh Carbon Community College for a single 9-inning conference match-up starting at 4:30pm. Northampton's doubleheader vs. Gloucester County College scheduled for April 21st has been cancelled as the Roadrunners need to make up a conference doubleheader vs. Bergen.
