NANTICOKE, Pa. - Matt Roberts (1-1) threw a complete game 5-hitter, striking out 9 and walking one as Northampton defeated Luzerne County Community College, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in conference play.
Northampton scored two runs in the top of the first as
Jake Chamberlain singled, stole second and scored when
Jon DeJesus reached first base on an error. DeJesus then scored on a
Tyler Ruoss (2 for 3) single to left center.
The Spartans added 4 runs in the 3rd inning and a run in the 9th to account for their 7 runs.
Preston Koehler was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI as NCC snapped their two-game losing streak.
Northampton, which improved to 12-6 overall, hosts Lehigh Carbon Community College on Thursday at 3:30 in an EPAC matchup.
