NEWTOWN, NJ - Behind the strong play of
Meghan Conrad, the Northampton women's tennis team won their second match of the year, downing Bucks County Community College, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Conrad earned her first victory of the season at #1 singles, downing Alexis Maier 6-3, 6-3 and the Spartans earned 5 points total in singles play, with wins by
Krista Maue at #3,
Shelby Toth at #4 and forfeit victories at #5 and #6.
In the doubles competition, Conrad teamed with
Allison Potter to down Alexis Maier and Joanna Gocan 8-8 (7-4 tiebreaker), while Maue and Toth fell to Kayla Caruso and Ella Haluza, 8-5. NCC picked up a forfeit win at #3 doubles.
"I'm really happy for the girls," commented Head Coach
Megan Groh, "they have been working very hard in practice and it showed today ... hopefully this will be a confidence builder for the rest of the season."

The win propels Northampton to 2-4 overall, while Bucks falls to 0-5.
NCC returns to action on September 27th when they travel to the Community College of Philadelphia.
