Tennis Wins Inaugural Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Head Coach Megan Groh and her Spartan Women's Tennis team made history on Thursday afternoon as they defeated Bergen Community College, 6-1, to give Northampton its first-ever NJCAA victory.

Playing in their inaugural NJCAA match, Northampton started off strong, taking both doubles matches as Meghan Conrad and Allison Potter teamed up to defeat Stella Tello and Isabella Canal 8-4, while Krista Maue and Shelby Toth downed Stefani Feliz and Alma Guzman, 8-1.

The Spartans took four of the five singles matches, with Potter, Maue, Toth and Michelle Konczyk each coming out victorious.  Potter downed Canal 6-3, 7-5; Maue over Guzman 6-2, 6-3; Toth knocked off Feliz 6-1, 6-0; and Konczyk outlasted Allison Perez 6-1, 6-2.  Meghan Conrad fell at #1 singles, 3-6, 2-6 to Stella Tello.

Northampton, 1-0, returns to action on Saturday when they host Ocean County College at 12pm.
