Volleyball Takes First Two at Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament

SYRACUSE, NY - The Northampton women's volleyball team took their first two matches at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament at Onondaga Community College on Friday, sweeping host Onondaga 25-13, 25-16 and SUNY Delhi (Delhi, NY) 25-12, 25-13.

In their first match was the Lazers, Jax Babezki had 6 kills and 2 solo blocks and Emily Koehler added 4 kills and 4 digs.  Olivia Bobyak added 4 kills, 8 digs and 3 aces as the Spartans improved to 28-0 on the season.  The 28th win of the season moved Head Coach Adrian Yaguez's career record to 100 wins and 4 losses.

In match two vs. Delhi, Koehler had 11 kills, Babezki 8 and Bobyak recorded 10 digs as the Spartans rolled to the 2-0 sweep in the best of three format.  Anona Bauman added 22 assists and Sawyer Hoyak had 7 digs as 6th ranked Northampton improved to 29-0.

The Spartans, the defending tournament champions, return to action in the morning as they face Jefferson Community College (Watertown, NY) at 10:15am and then square off with 5th ranked and undefeated Monroe Community College (Rochester, NY) at 12:30pm.  Following the Monroe match the teams will get seeded and begin the playoff bracket.  Be sure to follow the Spartans on Twitter for match updates.
