Koehler Named EPAC Player of the Year

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Northampton sophomore Emily Koehler has been named the EPAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year. as announced Thursday night by the conference office.  Joining Koehler on the All-Conference First Team are freshman Jax Babezki and freshman Olivia Bobyak, while Head Coach Adrian Yaguez was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.

Koehler, a 2013 NJCAA All-American, leads the country in hitting percentage (.575), ranks 5th in kills (359) and 8th in service aces per set (1.11).  Northampton's all-time leader in kills, Koehler garnered MVP honors at the BC3 Invitational in August and at the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament in October at Onondaga Community College.  

Babezki, a middle hitter from Central Bucks-South, has had an outstanding freshman campaign, ranking in the national top-15 in hitting percentage and kills. Her 309 kills rank 2nd in the EPAC, behind Koehler's 359.

Bobyak, a freshman outside hitter from Whitehall, ranks 4th in the EPAC in digs (135), 5th in kills (128) and 5th in service aces (65).

Head Coach Adrian Yaguez earns his second EPAC Coach of the Year plaque, after garnering the award during the 2012 season as well.  Since taking over the Spartan program prior to the 2011 season, Yaguez has recorded an amazing 107-5 overall record, including 3 consecutive EPAC championships, 2 Region XIX titles, and a national tournament appearance.  Since the inception of the EPAC in 2012, the Yaguez-led Spartans are an astonishing 56-0 in EPAC play.

The Spartans, currently 35-1, will face Bergen Community College at Montgomery County Community College on Saturday at noon in the Region XIX Final Four.
