DRYDEN, NY - The Northampton men's lacrosse team dropped their second game of the season, falling 21-11 to Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Saturday at Panther Stadium.
The Spartans jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but TC3 responded to take a 5-4 lead after one period.
The second quarter was the downfall for Northampton, as TC3 outscored them 10-0 to take a comfortable 15-4 lead into the locker room at intermission.
"We really struggled in the second quarter," remarked Head Coach
Paul Miller, "we made some adjustments at halftime, but we dug ourselves too big of a hole. That being said, I saw marked improvement today from our first game at Essex ... we were actually able to get outside a couple times this week to practice and you could see the difference ... I'm very proud of their effort today."
Northampton was able to play TC3 even after intermission, actually outscoring them 7-6 over the final two quarters.
Travis Hartranft scored 2 goals,
Ryan Trimmer had 2 goals and 5 assists and
Brian Wahlgren added 3 goals and 2 assists for Northamton, which fell to 0-2 on the season.
Midfielder
Jonathan Burley was 16 of 34 on faceoffs, notched a team-high 10 ground balls and added 3 goals and
Anthony Pellicciotti recorded 12 saves in the cage for the Spartans.
NCC returns to action on Saturday March 29th, when they host four-time defending Region XIX champion Brookdale Community College at 12pm, in the inaugural home game for the program.
