BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's lacrosse team picked up their first victory of the season and first-ever Region XIX win with an 8-5 victory over the County College of Morris on Wednesday afternoon.
Cameron James (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack) made 18 saves in the cage to lead Northampton to the breakthrough victory. Â
Alec Lloyd (York, PA/York Catholic) scored 3 goals,
Mark Moser (Easton, PA /Easton ) and
JR Corlette (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom ) each had 2 goals and 1 assist and
Colton Freeman (Bangor, PA/Bangor) and
Missiah Mason (Philadelphia, PA /Northeast) led the team with 7 and 6 ground balls, respectively. Â
"It all clicked today," commented Head Coach
Joe Lodato who earned his first collegiate victory, "the offense was able to establish long possessions and get quality shots and the defense, led by
Cameron James (Hawley, PA/Wallenpaupack), was very disciplined and stepped up when they needed to."
Northampton is now 1-7 overall and 1-3 in Region XIX.
Morris falls to 1-12 overall and 0-3 in Region XIX.
The Spartans will look to make it two straight when they host defending Region XIX champion Brookdale on Saturday at noon.Â
